Typical stories deal with literature, philosophy, music, science, and art. To be sure, not on a highly sophisticated level, but much rather with an intuitive approach.</p> <p>The Turtle Tales style is never malicious or brutal, and not even meant to be hilariously funny. Instead, the strips are gently humorous and distinctly humane, with occasional traces of tragicomedy. The Turtle Tales see themselves in the tradition of Tove Jansson’s Moomins, cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sempé, the Peanuts, and children’s books illustrator Walter Trier.</p> <p>The Turtle Tales protagonists are open-minded towards the world, sharing the belief that happiness can be achieved only by meeting the world’s demands and possibilities.</p> <p>This liberal attitude is supported by the sketchy drawing style which is thought to carry more human touch than a traditional “comic” style. To date, the strip has only scarcely been published in magazines or newspapers.
